Transformer Prime dipersenjatai prosesor quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 dan OS Android Gingerbread. Asus menjanjikan Tranformer Prime akan segera mendapat update Android 4.0 atau Ice Cream Sandwich.

Menurut Asus, Transformer Prime akan tersedia di seluruh dunia pada bulan Desember mendatang. Harganya berkisar antara USD 500 sampai USD 600.

Tablet yang sejauh ini beredar di pasaran seperti iPad 2 atau Galaxy Tab masih mengandalkan prosesor dual core. Maka, Transformer Prime akan menjadi tablet pertama di dunia dengan prosesor quad core.

Dengan prosesor empat otak, wajar kiranya jika Tranformer Prime bisa menjalankan aplikasi dan fungsi multimedia lebih cepat. Transformer Prime juga menjadi platform game yang lebih mumpuni.

Chip quad core memungkinkan pula tablet tidak hanya sekadar perangkat hiburan, namun mampu menangani aplikasi serius seperti pengeditan konten atau video. Nvidia sendiri menyatakan Tegra 3 lebih cepat lima kali lipat ketimbang pendahulunya, Tegra 2.

konsumsi daya pun diklaim malah lebih hemat karena core prosesor bisa dimatikan berdasarkan beban workload. Menurut Nvidia, tablet dengan Tegra 3 baterainya dapat bertahan sampai 12 jam.

Sama seperti Eee Pad Transformer, Transformer Prime juga memiliki dock keyboard yang dapat disatukan dengan mulus di tablet. Layar 10 inchnya memakai teknologi Super IPS beresolusi 1280x800.
